Children and young people

First Steps (0-3)
During our sunday morning service, the organ vestry area is available for very young children or babies to use, with suitable toys avilable. The changing facilities are located in the disabled toilet at the back of church. For slightly older - and more mobile - toddlers, we run a creche in the church parlour.Sunday School (around 3+)
Children and families are always most welcome on a Sunday morning and we have a lively, well attended Sunday School where we enjoy exploring our faith in fun and interesting ways. Our children's groups meet every Sunday morning during the 9.30am service. We have three age groups, roughly: 3-5 years; 5-10 years and 10+ years. There is also a crèche for very young children. Each week we share news and prayers together before going into our separate groups for more age specific activities. We help to lead four special services during the year: Mothering Sunday, Easter Sunday, Harvest and we always have great fun putting together a Nativity presentation as part of our Christmas celebrations. We also organise family activities like a trip on the canal or to see the Kinver Pantomime.
Our purpose is to give the children a good grounding in the principles of the Christian faith and develop their knowledge and understanding of the bible. A prayer tree is used each week to encourage talking to God and we often pray for church members and the church as a whole.
The following groups run under the Churches Together in Kinver and Enville banner.

alive and kicking (High School age, 11+)
We are a Christian youth group for high school and college aged people and is part of the church in Kinver. We meet every Sunday to have a bit of a laugh, play some games and hopefully learn a bit more about God too. Anyone who attends high school or college is welcome and there's an especial welcome to anybody new to ak. We run a packed programme of events throughout the year. For more details and our programme of events please see theChildren and Holy Communion
We have been asked to remind everyone what our policy is regarding children coming to the rail for Communion. We do not believe that children cannot possibly understand well enough what Holy Communion is about – for which of us would claim to understand fully? The invitation is always given 'to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ' that they may come to his table and partake of bread and wine. No age limit is specified. Minister and Steward serving rely on parents to guide them whether their children should receive bread and wine or a blessing.Usually the minister will say 'extend your hands to receive, otherwise keep them by your sides' or some such request. So parents of children wishing to receive can ensure they know the appropriate position at the rail. If you come forward with your child or children please be ready to catch the eye of the serving steward or minister so as to guide them in case there is any doubt. This applies particularly if one of our recently appointed Stewards is serving.
